Presentation Description:
Sustainable Alternative Technologies for Aircraft Hangar Fire Protection
In recent years, the aviation industry has been evolving towards sustainability, due to significant changes in foam suppression systems commonly used for aircraft hangar protection. This discussion will provide an overview of PFOS/PFOA and the current foam regulations. We will examine the current 2022 edition of the NFPA 409 Standard on Aircraft Hangars as well as possible changes in future editions to be discussed in this month’s technical meeting. We will dive into the opportunities presented by the emerging alternative protection options of suppression systems such a water mist or clean agent as well as ignitable liquid drainage floor assemblies. Also examined is the current role of risk assessments, and how these cutting-edge technologies will shape the future of hangar fire protection. A key focus will be on how to provide customers with sustainable, innovative solutions while staying true to the intent of the NFPA Standards. Join us for an engaging discussion where we’ll share ideas, explore challenges, review a case study or two and collaborate on effective approaches to improving hangar fire protection.
