Hello SFPE Minnesota Members & Friends,

We are excited to meet for our monthly member's meeting!  Join us dinner, drinks, and a presentation from John Swanson on what you need to know as MN transitions from the 2018 to the 2024 editions of the IBC and IFC.  We hope to see you there!

Dinner and beverages will be provided.  The presentation will begin shortly after a member's business portion has been completed.

We are not limited by registrations, but please try to be registered the Monday before the event so we can make sure to provide enough food and drinks.  
We hope to see you all there.

Speaker Bio:
John Swanson

John Swanson currently serves as NFSA’s Codes and Standards Specialist. In this role he provides training and education and represents NFSA on code development and technical committees. Prior to joining NFSA, John spent 20 years as a Deputy State Fire Marshal-Inspector/Plans Examiner with the Minnesota State Fire Marshal Division and served 8 years as a Firefighter with the City of Lakeville, Minnesota. He currently serves as a Principal member of the NFPA 72 – National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code Technical Committee and is a past member of the International Building Code (IBC) Fire Safety Committee and the Fire Code Interpretation Committee. He currently holds ICC’s Authorized Instructor Credential and serves as a contract instructor and subject matter expert for the International Code Council (ICC) by assisting with development of ICC exam content. From 2013 to 2017 John was appointed by MN Governor, Mark Dayton to serve as the fire service representative to the Minnesota board regulating architects and engineers.

Presentation Description:
2024 IBC & IFC Changes: What MN Professionals Need to Know
Minnesota has started the process of adopting the 2024 IBC and IFC. This course will provide participants with significant changes to the International Fire Code and the fire safety and fire protection system changes in the International Building Code. This course will prepare code officials, contractors, and design professionals for code updates as Minnesota transitions to the 2024 codes.
