Hello SFPE Minnesota Members & Friends,
Join us for dinner and some drinks for the kickoff of this coming years member's monthly meeting. We will have a business review and go over upcoming events. Following the business portion we will be hearing from our very own president, Melisa Rodriguez, on Quell sprinkler systems. This presentation will talk about the origins of the method and review where it can be used as an alternative to traditional dry systems. The talk will be worth 1 credit of PDH. We hope to see you there!
Dinner will be provided based on a set menu provided by Park Tavern - you will place your order upon arrival. Drinks will be available on your own expense. The Quell presentation will begin shortly after a member's business portion has been completed.
Again, we are excited to hear from Melisa and a certificate for 1 PDH will be provided. We hope to see you all there.

Speaker Bio:
Melisa Rodriguez
Melisa Rodriguez is the Vertical Business Development Leader for Storage with Johnson Controls. She is a licensed Fire Protection Professional Engineer with 20 years of experience in the industry and has held various roles including Project Manager, Designer, Lead Fire Protection Engineer, and Senior Business Development Manager. She is also NICET certified Level IV in Water Based Systems Layout. She earned her Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and MBA from the University of Minnesota located in Minneapolis, MN. Melisa serves as Chair on the MN board of licensure (AELSLAGID), Vice-Chair of the MN Governor’s Council for Fire Prevention and Control, a principal member of NFPA 14, 13R/13D and 88A Technical Committees, alternate member of the NFPA 13 Discharge Committee, NFSA Future Leadership Committee Vice-Chair, SFPE Virtual Learning Subcommittee Chair, and President of the MN Chapter Society of Fire Protection Engineers.

Quell Cold Storage Fire Protection
The Quell sprinkler system is a performance based design method for protection of cold storage warehouses. In areas where in-rack sprinklers would normally be required for high-piled storage protection, a Quell system could be a great option to provide ceiling only protection. The presentation will talk about the origins of the Quell design method and review when it can be used as an alternative to traditional dry sprinkler systems. A review of the design requirements will also be included.
